"Sure, I'd love to see the house. All I've really explored is the kitchen, and, you know, the bedroom," Nik ended with a smile. He had just begun to realize what had gone on during the previous night. It was not a bad realization - just a suprising one. This was not like him. And he guessed that it was not like her.
They walked around the halls for awhile. It was unremarkable in style or design, but the size of it was quite the opposite.
"Big house. How long have you lived away from your parents?"
"Just a few weeks now. Long enough to have unpacked everything," Sarah said.
She obviously had money in her family. Both of them were 18, and similarly they moved out as quickly as possible. However, Nik's run down apartment could not compare to Sarah's accomodations.
"Let me show you my room," Sarah said.
"Gee, I thought I explored it pretty well," Nik said modestly.
"No, that was the guest room. It was closer." At this they both laughed.
Sarah's room was intricately decorated with candles and statuettes. The theme was obviously very dark - nearly all of the items in the room along with the bedspreads were black. Along the walls she had a few posters up, of bands like Nine Inch Nails, Pink Floyd, System Of A Down, and Joy Division. On top of her dresser, there was very little save a necklace. Nik stepped over to it to get a closer look - it was a pentacle. He picked it up and held it to the nearest light source, a window with the drapes closed.
"Oh, I didn't tell you? I'm Wiccan."
This came as a bit of a suprise to Nik. Although he had no reservations about dating a Wiccan girl, it was strange for the area. In the extremely southern baptist state of Virginia, where Jerry Falwell reigns supreme, Wiccans were few and far between. He recalled meeting one other Wiccan person, who had at this point moved off to college in Ohio. Whatever her religion (or lack thereof), it made little difference to him.
He looked at the statuettes she had lined across her nightstand. Wolves, a lion, and other minor things. But there was one that caught his eye. It was a vampire, with the fangs penetrating deeply into the neck of a young woman. The detail was exquisite. Little drops of blood came out of the woman's neck. The vampire himself was by far more interesting. What made the statuette was his expression. He seemed to be exquisitely regretting what he was doing, but at the same time there seemed to be acceptance. Nik was completely transfixed. He moved his hand to feel the texture of the statuette. As he made contact with the statue, a little shock ran through his skin. It felt a bit like static electricity, and completely without pain. He disregarded it completely.
"HOLY SHIT!" Sarah yelled.
Nik snapped towards her quickly. She appeared frightened, but he couldn't tell why.
"Are you alright?! It looked like you were electrocuted!"
