Date Posted: 05:24:11 11/22/02 Fri Susan drove into the driveway of SMS. Jesse came out, ready for a leason. "Hi!"I said. "You're riding Practiclly Perfect today!" Once again, I showed Jesse how to tack up. "Put the blanket on" I instructed."and then the seat riser. Then, you put the saddle on of coarse." I watched him put the saddle on. "Ok, now, you take this bit, and slip it into Perfect's mouth. Then, here you take the browband and slip her ears through it.""Now, make sure the ends of the noseband are inside, and tighten that as tight as it will go, then take the throatlatch, and buckle it on the first or second hole." Jesse did well on my directions, and then he walked Perfect out to the arena where I was standing. I told him, and showed him how to tighten the girth, and then measure his stirrups. He already knew how to mount, so I let him get on. "Walk around a few times" I told him. Jesse walked around the ring a few times, with a spirited Perfect under him."Shorthen up and go into a trot!" I called finally. He remembered how to do that, so I watched him go around the ring a few times. He tried posting his best, and I told him that he could grip the saddle alittle if he needed help. He trotted around the lunge line I was holding, and then I said..."HALT!" Jesse halted alright, but it was a little bouncy. I smiled, and told him to walk on. He and Perfect walked around, and then, I told him to go into a posting trot again. This time, he took my advice and held on to the saddle. Up and down he posted, but then..."Down to a sitting trot" I explained to him what it was. He did much better with the sitting trot, because it was just relaxing. Finally he walked around and finished up. He dismounted and I showed him how to untack, which was much eaiser. He walked back to his van, and I said goodbye! ~*~*end of lesson*~*~ [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
