Date Posted: 16:27:12 12/02/02 Mon I waited in the chilly winter, waiting for Jesse and Susan to appear. Suddenly, as I was kicking a stone around, a car appeard in the distance. It drove into the driveway of Shining Meadow Stables, and parked in the main parking area. I smiledand ran up to Jesse and Susan, who were just climbing out of the car. "Hi Guys!" I said cheerfully, as I invited them into the barn. Susan and Jesse folowed me into the stables, and I told Susan she could go into the arena and sit down on one of the chairs behind the caveletis. I gave Susan direction, and then turned to Jesse who was now holding Practcally Perfect's lead rope in his hands. I showed him once again how to tack up and get PP all ready again. Soon later, I was helping Jesse get his stirrups to the right lengths. I showed him how to do it, and explained it as well. Jesse watched and did it correctly after a few tries. I also watched him tighten the girth, since I had taught him that earlier. Finally, Jesse was mounted on PP and was walking arund the arena on her. "She lives by her name!" I explained to Susan. Susan smiled and agreed. We watched Jesse walk around the Perfect mare, looking straight ahead like I had taught him. "Let's go into a trot now!" I called. Jesse shortened up his reigns and went into a slow trot. I had to tell him to have a prompter trot a few times, but other than that, he did well. "HALT!" I screeched. Almost immidiatly, PP was standing still with Jesse on top, holding the reigns and smiling. Susan and I seemed proud, and Susan beamed with happiness. I let Jesse know that he could walk around again, as he clicked to the mare and walked on. Jesse and PP were waling around just fine, and then I told them to go into a trot again. This time, we worked on a sitting trot, and worked on keeping his heels down. The young rider bounced along on the horse, smiling. I reminded him to keep his reigns short, but only once. Then, he slowed down to a walk, while Susan and I chatted a bit. "You can walk around unil Perfect cools down" I told Jesse. He walked around, with heels down, head high and hands relaxed. I told Susan that Jesse was a great rider compared to others that have just started. We smiled, and I walked into the grooming stall with the young rider, as he brought his horse in, and turned her around. He took the bridle off, and I slipped the halter on for him. He clipped the crossties to PP and slowly started taking the saddle off her. I showed him where the tack room was, and the two of us walked back to the stall. We put Perfect's blanket on her, and Jesse clipped her lead rope on again. I followed Susan and Jesse out to their car, and helped load Perfect into their trailer. "You can let Perfect board here if you want" I told Susan. "I'll think about it." Susan said with a grin.
