Date Posted: 17:19:13 12/21/02 Sat *Travis walks down to the barn and goes to his mare, Lily's stall. he opens the door, then ducks under the stall guard and offers the mare a piece of sugar. she nervously grabs it, and he grabs her halter as she eats. She snorts and tries to pull away, but doesnt have anywhere to go. he clips a lead to her halter and runs the shank over her nose, then leads her out of the stall and crossties her to groom her. He gently curries her and she snorts nervously and dances away from him. "Easy Lily, its ok" he tells the nervous mare. Next he takes out the dandy brush and brushes all the dirt off of her coat. She still tries to escape his touch and nips at him irritatedly. "No!" he corrects her as she grabs his jacket in her teeth. She lets go and tries to shoot forward, but the crossties stop her. He finishes brushing her off, then cleans out her hooves and gets out a training saddle and a clean saddle pad, girth and bridle. He tacks her up carefully, watching out for her teeth and hooves, then gets out the lounging equipment and puts the cavasson over her bridle and clips the lounge line to it. he leads her to the indoor riding ring and lounges her in a circle around him, trying to get her used to his voice comands. She spends the whole time shying away from him and galloping wildly around him. after he gets her to walk and trot a circle on the lounge, throws a cooler over her sweaty back and walks her until she is cool and dry. then he untacks her and gives her a carrot, brushes her off and turns her out in a small 1/2 acre turnout.
