Date Posted: 17:32:13 12/21/02 Sat *Kelsey goes down to the barn early in the morning and feeds Tori, then cleans his stall. While he eats his morning hay, she goes to the indoor ring and gets out the jumps and sets up a gymnastic line of fences with 5 fences, the first 2' high, the second 2'3, the third 2'6, the fourth 2'9 and the fifth 3'. By the time the fences are set up and at the proper height, Tori has finished his hay. She grooms and excited stallion and tacks him up, then leads him to the riding ring. She quickly mounts him and warms him up by walking, trotting and cantering 20 meter circles, serpintines and figure 8's. Tori playfully yanks on the reins, shies and bucks through the whole warm-up. Then she pops him over an 18" crossrail several times to warm up his jumping muscles before letting him walk to catch his breath. After a few circles at the walk, she slides her leg back and asks him for the canter. the black springs into a hand gallop and Kelsey gives him several firm half halts, slowing him to a working canter. Then she aims for the center of the first jump and focuses her eyes over the last jump and gives Tori an automatic release as he takes off for the first jump. He soars over it easily and Kelsey half halts at the landing, reminding him to slow down for the second jump. He rocks back on his hindquarters and takes the second jump easily, then the third. He yanks on the reins and tries to pick up speed going to the fourth jump, but does not have the room. He easily clears the 2'9 fence and flies over the 3' fence right after it. He bucks several times on the landing, then gallops around the ring. Kelsey circles him several times to calm him down, then takes him over the gymnastic fences several more times.
