Date Posted: 17:21:09 02/16/03 Sun *Travis walks down to the barn and catches Lady. He brings the pretty dun mare to the barn and grooms her, then tacks her up. He brings the mare to the riding ring and warms her up. Then he works on her lateral work for a little while, then he works on canter-walk-canter transitons on a circle. He canters a 20 meter circle, then walks 10 meter circle, then canters another 20 meter circle. He does the excersise several times in each direction, then cools her out. He turns her out, then goes to get Lily from her stall. She is standing in the back of her stall with her head drooping. "Lily" Travis calls softly, opening her stall door. She does not even lift her head. He cautiously walks to her head and puts a hand on her halter. "Wow, you feel hot" He comments. He quickly looks her over, checking for any other symptoms. He notices that her nose is running and her eyes are dull. As he leaves her stall, she coughs, her whole body shuddering with each cough. "Mom! Lily's sick!" Travis calls. Saddle is in her office on the phone. "No, i dont think any of our horses are infected..." Saddle says into the phone, just as Travis runs into her office. "Travis, why are you running? You know not to run in the barns" Saddle tells him irritatedly. "Lily's sick, shes coughing, her whole body feels hot, her nose is running and shes just standing in her stall with her head drooping and her eyes dull" Travis tells her. "Never mind Jenny, Lily is sick, it sounds like it might be the same thing, i'll call you back after i get in touch with Dana" Saddle tells her. "Jenny just called to warn me that Shayla's got a barn full of sick horses and a few of them have already died" Saddle tells Travis softly. "It hit fast and all the infected horses have high fevers, runny noses and coughs" Saddle continues. "Oh no" Travis gasps. "I'm going to call Dana, you go check all the other horses and put any of them that are showing even the smallest symptom in the mares barn. I'll come help you get them settled after i talk to Dana" Saddle tells him. Travis rushes to the paddocks and brings in all the horses that appear affected. By then Saddle comes to the mares barn. "Dan's at Dancing Meadows, i'm going over there to see if she can come here right now. For now just fill up their water buckets and start stripping the other barns.
