Date Posted: 20:08:23 02/19/03 Wed In reply to: Dana 's message, "Kaylee's Riding Lesson" on 15:13:57 02/17/03 Mon "So," Dana ask Kaylee, "what do you think?" Kaylee says, "She's awesome! Her canters not the easiest to sit, but she has really great movement, lots of impulsion!" Dana nods in agreement.Dana watches as Kaylee canter Braveheart around."try to sit to her canter & collect her a bit." Kaylee nods, & trys to sit to the bay mares canter. She collects her, & the canter becomes easier to sit."Push your heels down a bit," Dana calls, as Kaylee passes by on Braveheart.Kaylee pushes her heels down a little more, & Dana calls to her "perfect!" Soon, Kaylee is done warming up Braveheart, & Dana has her warming up the 16.3 hand Holsteiner over 2'-6" jumps.Dana explains to Kaylee befor she starts jumping that though Braveheart is young, she is a very good jumper, & has to be collected coming to the jumps, then given a lot of rein when she goes over the jump.Dana has Kaylee jump the mare over a 2'-6" vertical.Kaylee gets Braveheart over the jump, but has trouble getting her to collect after the jump.Dana has Kaylee jump the vertical again, & this time Braveheart plays around, & shakes her head around coming off the jump, she starts cantering very fast."Pulley rein!" Dana calls.Kaylee uses the pulley rein effectively, & Braveheart is halter.Dana walks over to Bravheart & says to Kaylee, "you can learn a lot from Braveheart, especially how to handle green horses. When Braveheart starts to act up, its best to jump her over a hunter course to get her to slow down some what. But we can raise the jumps to 4" though.....(I will continue tomorrow, right now I have G2G though!)
