I don't currently consume red meat in my diet, mostly just chicken and fish, so I'm already halfway there....

In this country, people do hunt wild animals, most notably deer, ducks and rabbits. However, that they do so to the degree that they would upset the eco-balance is doubtful, so your points are still well-taken. Farm animals can still overpopulate, though. I just came back from Key West, and the place is overrun with chickens! Everywhere you go, there are chickens. I'm not sure if they have enough to eat, or how the locals could humanely control the situation.

How do you feel about the so-called "pests", like rats, mice, and such? Do you think it is right to kill them? I am a little biased, since I have three female (domestic) rats I keep as pets...
