Maybe, just maybe, it's more complicated than YOU think it is.

I don't see a matrix inside a matrix. I just see matrix...period.

I'm sure that just having a single virtual reality world rather than your explanation would be easier to understand by the "general" crowd as you put it. Just my opinion though.

One thing you mention that sticks out to me...

"the machines rewind time and start the humans back on the same years to repeat and it starts all over again"

If this is the case, then what happens to all the human batteries in your "real" world? Remember neo's body had supposedly grown from birth whilst acting as a human battery in the real world. If time was then wound back by the machines, what would happen to all these bodies in the real world? If you just wound back the matrix, then Neo would probably be his 70's by the time he got out again!

If, as I suggest, that we haven't seen the real world yet, then this would not be a problem, since it's just a virtual reality world where ANYTHING can happen.

If you're right (which you very well maybe), then all I was saying is, is that I'd be dissapointed. I like a film to make sense. I'm not into comic book hero stuff. I like things to be at least mildly believable.

I'd quite like the ending if neo woke up from a dream, or disconnected from a video game or something. I like the concept of being in a virtual reality world and not knowing you're in it. Hey, we could all be in one right now. I know this concept has been covered before in previous books/films, but no way near as well as the Matrix.
