Sure. Persephone is a candidate, but not a very good one.

The Architect said that the mother of the matrix was designed to investigate and better understand human emotion and psyche. If Persephone is the mother, then damn she is a slut. She must of kissed billions of people to investigate and better understand their emotions and psyche.
O.k., maybe she didn't need to kiss billions, and maybe she originally conducted her studies in a more practical way. But, like i posted, between the Oracle and Persephone, and between M1 and M2, i think it is more reasonable to accept the Oracle as the mother.
I'll watch Animatrix etc, and maybe i'll see some evidence in either direction.
In several movie abstracts i've seen Persephone described as 'evil.' If she is the mother, then i guess she's evil. Heck, who knows?
