Are you saying then that every Matrix cycle is possibly a few thousand years old ? Woah, i never really gave that a though, i automatically assumed that it was rebooted. There is no way, someone from Moses time would accept/get his head round/ Hovercrafts, and that terrible music they play in Zion ;-)

Or perhaps nobody left the real world...they jsut freaked out and committed suicide in an attempt to 'wake up', as the 23 folk in Zion are probably still trying to build a community and aren't really in a position to start hacking in. maybe... interesting, i'll need to chew that over.

I was thinking that the programming of every person wouldn't be so difficult. Basically u'd reboot to just before the second world war. some of the older folk are programmed to believe they are younger, but put in a scenario ie War, Concentration camp, where they can't survive very long, or given crippling physical disabilites that doesn't allow them to exert themselves too much, and they die young (in the matrix). This way within the space of a couple of years the everything would be level out.
