That's exactly what I assumed. Let's take a closer look at the meaning of 'Merovingian'. The Merovingian dynasty of Frankish kings are known as the first 'race of kings' in France. The legend tells that the Merovingians had the blood of Jesus Christ in their dynasty.

I also think that Persephone is the 'mother' of the Matrix, because the architect said that this program was able to understand people's feelings, and that's exactly what Persephone did when she told Neo and Trinity that she can feel that they are in love. Maybe she 'the mother' is sick of the Matrix because she is able to 'feel'.Maybe she misses the love she had when the Merovingian formerly 'the one' and she came together.
and because of her frustration she programmed Neo through the kiss or maybe she programmed this Neo 'version' right from the start to be able to feel love.

What do you think about that?
