It's tough to spell out the story of the matrix over and over again, but there seems to be a few misunderstandings that need to be cleared up before I go crazy. Read the previous threads and then read this, as I spell them out more clearly.

#1 Zion is a wastebasket created BY THE SYTEM OF THE MATRIX to account for the %1 of people that do not allow themselves to be inserted into the matrix. If they escape, the system knows that they will most likely end up in zion. So the system allows them to think they are safe here, only to destroy it after a certain amount of time when "the one" is reborn. They then use him to restart zion and the whole thing begins again.
#2 The current matrix is never restarted!!! They don't simply wipe the slate clean and start over with a new one. reloading the matrix is best compared to an upgrade of software. If you buy a new version of Microsoft word, there may be new features and stuff, but all your previous documents still run on it and it is, for the most part, the same. In this way, It doesn't slip back to the early twentieth century or something equally cheesy.
#3 Neo is not a program. Neo is an anomaly that is created by the unfortate realization of choice in humanity. He is NOT accounted for, which is to say that his creation is NOT solely to start zion over when it is destroyed. Quite to the contrary, the system would rather that he not exist, but they have found a suitable way to deal with him by giving him the task of restarting zion after it is destroyed. Six times previously, this has worked and his troublesome prescence was minimized by this task. This time, however, it did not, as he chooses to disobey the architect and attempt to stop the system from destroying zion. We'll have to see how this pans out in november.
#4 The oracle is, more or less, a bad guy. She is not necessarily a bad guy in the evil "enslave all humans and make them suffer" kind of way, like agent smith seems to be, but she is a bad guy in the sense that she would rather the matrix continue to exist than not. However, she does understand that to do this, she must work closely with humans and she understands their nature far better than any other program, which is why she helped the architect to create a more realistic, "choice-friendly" world as opposed to the virtual eutopia he had created. I have kindof a theory on this, but it's in another string entitled "the benevolant system". read it, cause I thought about it a lot.

That's all. I'll think of more things later.
