Subject: Explinations and Reasoning

I apaogize in advance to those i might offend or anger. these are just my opinions and ideas.


When i first read the posts regaurding my earlier topic intitled "Reality" i was amazed at how many of you responded. The i began to realize how many of those postings brought about topics of religions and belifs, and i began to think about the whole religion idea in itself.

As i first said, i do apologize for anyone that might be offended and I do respect other peoples beliefs and would like to keep an open mind for all ideas and thoughts as I know most of everyone here does. But i began to think what does religion offer. Not some pathway to a better life, not some notion of belief, but hope. It offers hope. it's there to fill our emptynest in side of ourselves. I myself am Athiest (if you couldnt already tell) and so i hold no absolute opinion on the existence of god(s). but i think that religion is here to fill that space in ourselves that has nothing.

Besides it giving hope, it gives purpose. It gives us a reason to goto church sundays, to say what we say, to feel the way we feel. but i also believe that it is only that and nothing more (religion). just an institution for us to make things seem alrite when they arnt. but its not just religion that does it, its our jobs, school, sports, your family, and so on. i think thats what i was really trying to get at in my earlier post, that things arnt there just because..... there purpose is to give us purpose. we are social animals and when we have nothing to fullfil us, we reach out i.e. religion.

anyway i will try to post more on this subject in later time and like i said before, these are just my opinions.
