He could jump into a sentinel... every machine is logged into the mainframe, and the matrix is logged into de mainframe too. So there is a way that Smith could control a machine in the real world, and even Neo should control the machine, as we saw at the end of the movie. If some part of Neo's mind is still in the MAtrix, i guess he could stop a sentinel.
