Subject: Could the Matrix be destroyed?

Ok, I was thinking about what the W Bros could have as the big finale, and everyone must have thought about Neo completely disabling the Matrix and destroying the Machines. But, could the Earth be a hospitable environment for humans?

I know the sky was scorched, so there is no Energy, and thats why Zion is close to the Earth's core. But isn't there a way to 'un-scorch' it?

I have seen the second renaissance (animatrix), and just what the hell did the humans propose to do after the machine army was destroyed (after cutting out the sun)? Surely it was a kamikaze effort?

Or, perhaps whatever they used to scorched the sky with (just looked like a thick cloud of chemicals to me but i dont know) was designed so it could be removed after the destruction of the machine empire.

So what I am asking is, if Neo destroys matrix, and machines, will humans be able to live life on earth, all would Zion need to become a hell of alot bigger. Having said that, most humans that weren't unplugged will probably die as a result of the machines being annihilated.

Having typed this up it seems pointless to me too, but I'm grateful to anyone who takes the time to read and reply.
