I can relate to this movie as well, in the context of cultural importance. My family is from a very small village in Greece and we Iwent their last summer with my entire family. They had remembered everthing about my dad even though he had not been back their for thirty years. To me it was a life changing experience because to see so many people within a community that had very little change in several decades, to me seemed so unusal. Also they had kept their tradtions the same, such as: tradtional songs that they sing at hoildays or certain occasions, town organization, etc. I think the most moving experience was when they reinacted the Greeks immigrating from Turkey, after the Turks had burned them out of house and home. They celebrate this holiday every year on July 10th and they have fishing boats that come into the harbor with torchs and the whole town is chanting a song about their indepence from the Turks. It was so interesting to me to see the strong tradtional values this society had, and the "Song Catcher" within a different cultural context relayed the same cultural values through different tradtions.
