I too was thinking about the discussion we had in class about women's music and I came back to some of our earlier readings about intent of interpritation while some of the "feminist musician" may not really be femininst such as lilth fair and other they come off as that and make a lot of money by using that advantage to thier own personal gain so even though they preach that they are married and not femenists and so on that isn't the message that is taken away from them or thier shows so i think that they in a way are selling out as well. By trying to appleal wo both sides claiming not to be a fem. but then playing at those shows and not activly trying to change thier image.

And not to start a religous discussion but in the bible it talks about women being very highly regarded so the comment on christain religon keeping women opressed and so on is completely unfounded had you used jidsm for the example religon i would have completely agreed for there were many restrictions on what women could and could not do but in the new testment god states that women are equal to men (Luke 13:16 ) and that the divorce laws pertaining to women were changed as well (Mark 10:11) anyway sorry to start a religous discussion i just wanted to clear that up
