I've written about this in a few of my journals but I felt I should share my viewpoint on survival. I'm an adamant supporter of Darwins Theory of Evolution not becuase of its scientific validity but becuase it applies to all aspects of life from business to art. Survival of the fittest could also be read as survival of the most adaptable and most wanted. Unfortunately today the word commercial has pejorative conntatations, but I feel marketing itself is an art (Im a business student, i'm biased) and so is recognising what a large audience subscribes to. I'm not saying uniqueness is a bad thing, I just think you cant have your cake and eat it too. You cant be an artist who delivers a niche form of art and expect significant commercial success.
