I also thought that Dominick was a talented musician and it is amazing that he started playing the mandolin when he was so young. It was clear to see that he was able to relate to some of the issues that we read in the bluegrass community article being that he met Justin there at the festival in Lyons. It was also nice to see two musicians who were playing for no other reason than for the enjoyment of playing. They weren't doing it for money (they both live with their parents) and they weren't doing it to go to festivals and get drunk or high (They are both still too innocent for that). They play because there is nothing else in the world that they would rather be doing and I am very jealous that they have something like that. It was easy to see how music shapes their identities, they schedule their whole life around bluegrass music. I thought it was great that Dominick didn't let his friends bother him about it. A lot of kids his age wouldn't play the mandolin because his friends might tease him for it, but that doesn't hold Dominick back. Even though his friends don't listen to the music he listens to he stands up for what he loves. If only we could all be that strong...
