Subject: Age aint nothin but a number

After seeing Domink and Justin's performance I found myself asking what age means to identity in music and in general. A specific quote from the boys that especially intrigued me was that they looked forward to being considered "Not just good for your age--but good." I think that age plays a huge role not only in how we identify ourselves but how others percieve us. Although I could sympathize with the boys there is a "good for your age" factor that is very relevent. We consider the talents of these kids even more impressive because they are so young. The boys even admitt there is an age factor when they commented that the musician from Nickel Creek who was Dominiks hero was "only 13 when he cut his first album." Also, people identify based on their age as is evident in the kids group that forms at festivals. They expressed their delight in playing with people their own age that they could identify with more. So my question is--obviously age matters in music and in society in general, but should it?
