"Bluegrass picks" seem as though they make playing a whole lot more fun. Any one can play at home and I am sure a lot of peoplee do, but playing with other people requires more talent and compormise. I commend Michelle for going to these picks by herself and learning more then she ever could at home playing by herself. It is still important to take the skills learned at teh picks home to practice but I believe that playing with other people is a very valuable lesson. When she first started going to these picks, she played the role a beginner on the outside of the circle and now she plays a bigger role in that she sits in the circle and calls her own songs. That is a huge improvement and shows a lot of character. Like she said, she can walk into any pick and know almost everyone there. That is a very close community and something she is probably going to be involved in for a very long time.
