I really don't understand this concept of authenticity well. Who's to say what is authentic or not authentic? In Garian's example of authenticity being a big concern in 'old time' music; I thought to myself, how do you determine what is authentic 'old time'? If someone aspires to play in an old time band, are they inauthentic if they're from urbania? Music and everything is always changing and evolving, that is what makes life interesting. In terms of music I think that authenticity is overrated- and counter-creative. I believe that this extends to life in general. Individuals are ever-evolving and unless they are deliberately 'faking it' always authenticly themselves.
