CP-

Word out of Charlottetown is that Islanders GM Vansickle is furious at the GWHL head offices over the mishandling of the waiver draft.

The Islanders were pleased to select Cory Stillman with their pick in the first round but the controversy starts in the 2nd round. The Islanders selected winger Andrew Brunette. Normally waiver drafts occur just before the season so all of the players are signed and ready to go. For some reason this one didn't and as a result, the Islanders, unknowingly, drafted Brunette who is an unrestricted free agent.

To make matters worse, the player the Islanders unprotected to select Brunette was Shean Donovan who was later selected by Saskatoon.

"Its a friggin joke," said a visibly upset GM "How on earth they can let this slip, I don't know. Basically, I've lost Shean Donovan for nothing. I don't know what they are drinking over at the head office but sign me up for a case."

GM Vansickle didn't seem concerned about any fines that could be levied against him. There is even rumour circluating that GM Vansickle is considering sitting some of his best players during road games to get back at the league.

Intersting story for sure.
