(Halifax)-The Halifax Harpoons, in an effort to add more size to their center corps, have gone out and landed Radek Bonk, currently toiling for Dawnson City, the Whitehorse Warriors minor league affiliate.
"I really thought this year was going to be a good year for me in Whitehorse, but I was never really given a chance to show what I could do," commented the big pivot. "It's been a wasted year as far as I'm concerned."
Going to Whitehorse for the big center were prospects Tomas Fleischmann, Mark Popovic, and the rights to Toronto's 2nd rounder in the 2006 draft.
"Both Fleischmann and Popovic have the goods to become players in this league but we think Tomas is a bit too small for our liking and we are very deep on the blueline," offered GM Stephen J. Holodinsky.
While it is true that Halifax has a plethora of big centermen in Eric Lindros, Joe Thornton, Oleg Kvasha, and prospect Kiel McLeod, they are also presently using mighty mite Marc Savard on the second line.
"We don't expect Radek to make any kind of impact this season," added Holodinsky. "We would rather he played the rest of the year out in Dartmouth, learn how we do things here and be ready to challenge for a spot next season."
