Ottawa, ON - The Marauders are in for the night on the eve of their playoff series opener against the Ottawa Oaks, but it's a safe bet that many of the players are not sleeping. Pre-game jitters usually start a bit earlier when Game One is less than 24 hours away.

The upstart Marauders will face off on enemy ice against a powerful Oaks team that has benefitted from a mid-season trade to bolster their goaltending. The new netminder is familiar to Montreal fans, as Felix Potvin spent part of last year backing up the Marauders. Potvin has plenty of motivation to stick it to his former club, a team that he feels gave up on him.

The Oaks also boast a potentially explosive offense, with five players who scored 29 or more goals this year. Led by the brilliant playmaking of Jason Allison, the Oaks are also fortified by snipers Dany Heatley and Alexander Mogilny. As if that weren't enough, the team also has clutch scorers Chris Drury and Joe Nieuwendyk on the roster.

"We have our hands full, for sure," said Marauders GM Gallagher, "we just have to keep them from getting a fast start in their building. We just need to find a way to steal a win here in Ottawa and take back home ice advantage."

The troops seem excited.

"It should be a great tilt," said Brad Richards, "they're a tough team and we should see a long series."

Game One gets underway on Wednesday evening.
