For their last three games against the Montreal Marauders, the Halifax Harpoons almost seemed like they did not want to face their nemesis from the West, the Yellowknife Blades. Up 3-0 in the series, upon hearing the news that the Blades were through to the finals, the Harpoons squandered away the series , losing three straight games, only to eke out a win in game seven.

"We are terrified of the Blades" squeaked tired Harpoons centre Joe Thornton. "They beat us last year and we don't want to face them again."

Halifax centre Eric Lindros was even more nervous.

"Scott Stevens hits me hard. Me no like that. I don't know if I can handle another series against him."

Upon hearing the news, Blades coach Jacques Martin didn't seem phased at all.

"It doesn't matter to me who we play. Yes the Harpoons are a buncha oversized pansies, but they did manage a good regular season and are able to beat you if you don't play your game."

No doubt the Harpoons would love to avenge last years game seven Hoser Cup Finals loss to Yellowknife. But if Scott Stevens has his way, don't count on Lindros being the MVP.
