[Saskatoon, SK] A mix of hockey people and drinkers crowded around a TV at The Wanker's Pub in Saskatoon to watch the GWHL Draft Lottery. The Saskatoon Silos ended up as the second worst club in that league this past season, so the faithful were hoping that their club would land the top pick in the upcoming GWHL Draft.

The wait was rewarded, as around 9:40 PM local time it was announded that the Silos would indeed hold the top pick in the Draft. A huge cheer went up, and there were high-fives all around as the assembled throng realized that the 2005 season was not a total waste.

"We've put up with a lot of crap this season", said long time season ticket holder Gord Trudeau. "Hopefully this means we don't have to see the likes of Ulf what's-his-name or some of the other bloody punters that skated for the club this year."

Over in another corner, GM Ken McKenna mingled with a few of the fans in attendance, clearly pleased with the evening's outcome.

"This is an opportunity to add some quality depth to the club", beamed the GM. "I doubt that we'll add a superstar, but our scouts like some of the talent at the top end of the Draft."

Would the club consider moving the pick?

"Probably not, but never say never", shrugged the GM. "If we could turn it into a couple of first round picks in this draft, maybe, but I don't see that offer coming."
