(Halifax)-In a secret memo leaked to the press today, the Halifax Harpoons have made it clear that they can no longer afford to keep Big M Award winner Eric Lindros or veteran defenseman Eric Desjardins on the team. Lindros's ticket may have been punched with the acquisition of Radek Bonk earlier this season, but now that the season is done apparently the club is wasting no time in letting the GWHL community know he is available and that the club would be willing to pay down part of his contract in order to be rid of him.

To quote from the memo "5 million dollars is too much to be paying a 4th line center. If we can get a willing trading partner we should be willing to pay down the contract so he is only making 2.5 million per season to whoever he is traded to."

While there have been issues of durability in the past, it should be noted that Lindros has been working out with a new trainer who assures the club he should be more able to handle himself in the coming seasons (Lindros has a 74 DU in the new ratings).

Additionally, the memo suggests the club would be willing to pay down half of veteran defender Eric Desjardins contract (giving him a yearly salary of 2.25 million) in order to be rid of him. The club anticipates that someone will want a defender who is as good at his craft as anyone (Desjardins has a 96 DF in the new ratings).
