In his first deal since rejoining the GWHL, new WPG GM dealt Marco Sturm today for Marc Savard.

"Halifax acquired Sundin," Steve said, "so he had the depth at Center for the move. We feel Langkow's defensive re-rate allowed us to move Sturm for a more offensive minded forward. With so many key players UFA, it was a tough decision but one we felt best to secure this team a little."

GM Gandour was previously GM of the Whitehorse Warriors where in his only year in the league, he was named GM of the Year (known as the Kim Gernack Memorial award). Ironically his first deal of the year would be with the most recent winner of that same award, and a fellow Stephen. Also ironically, the deal saw one Marc S be dealt for a Marco S.
