There have been a couple of deals closed so far this summer, but the Saskatoon Silos may still be in the process of re-making the team.

There have been whispers that star center Alexei Yashin is on the block, although no one in the organization would confirm it. Silos GM Ken McKenna instead chose to praise the high-scoring center.

"Offensively speaking," said the GM, "Yashin has been the straw that stirs the drink for us the past two seasons. He has been one of the premier offensive players in the GWHL in 2002 and 2003, finishing third in scoring in both of those seasons. That is a tribute to his consistency, and there is no reason he can't perform at that level again this season."

There are some in the organiztion that worry that the team will not be as strong offensively as they have been the past two seasons, however, which is why Yashin's name keeps popping up in trade rumors. The thinking is that the team may be looking to go with youth, which would make Yashin expendable.
