Subject: Saskatoon Feeling a Draft

On the eve of the 2004 GWHL Entry Draft, the Saskatoon Silos' scouting staff is busy making their lists and checking them twice, in the hopes of landing some solid talent for the future of the team.

The Silos go into the draft with seven picks, including one first and second round pick, four third round picks, and a compensation pick after the completion of the third round. While the team may very well deal a pick or two before or during the draft, Silos' GM Ken McKenna expressed confidence that the team would be able to find good talent even if they hold on to all of the picks.

"Some people have expressed little interest in this draft," stated McKenna. "But our scouts think that there is plenty of solid talent available all the way through this draft, so we're prepared to use all of our picks if necessary."

The Silos don't draft until the 15th selection of the first round, so they will miss out on some of the higher end talent available. The general consensus is that right wing Ales Kotalik is the top player available, but McKenna isn't so sure of that.

"Kotalik is definitely a talent," agreed the GM, "but there are guys that may go in the third round who could potentially be more productive players. It is just that kind of draft."

The Silos would appear to be set at center for the future, so it is expected that the team will instead focus on wingers and defensemen.

"That sounds like a plan," winked McKenna.
