We took a lot of cheap shot by fellow gm's in this league about how we run our operations here in Edmonton. We were abuse and did get much respect... This draft was shock for a lot of them. Gm provencher knows the player he drafted will contributed greatly to team overall success. The Eagles traded down in this draft to acquire two excellent prospects rather than one. With the 5th overall pick, Edmonton selected Alexander Perezhogin. A excellent two way player that would help a lot on the PK. Gm Provencher was salivating when he announce that pick. This player is compared to Martin Hlavat. The next pick Edmonton selected Antti Miettinen, a terrific two way player with an excellent work ethic. Provencher thinks he will be the next Lehtinen. Finally with the 7 th pick, he proceed to select Andreas Holmqvist a future M. Ohlund in the making. All these players should spend a bit of time on the farm team before making the big club. When ask about why he didn't pick Grigorenko, he said he didn't think that he was that great because of his injuries. Perezhogin was playing on the same team this year and he had more points that him playing on the third line. Halifax was putting a lot of pressure on Edmonton to acquire that pick in the Bush like fashion but the Quebec offer was better at the time. It's obvious that Halifax scouting staff was unaware of Perezhogin talent. In the third round, Edmonton acquire Paul Martin a future no 3 guy who could surprise a lot of people with his talent. Finally Gm Provencher traded away HAlifax third round pick in 05 to acquire A. Erhoff a great defender. He is part of a team with numerous German player drafted from the same team. Erhoff would likely play with Goc and company in Germany this year.... Gm Provencher concluded the press conference by saying that a lot of moves are expected before the waiver draft...
