(Halifax)-In a move that is bound to shake the hockey world, the Halifax Harpoons have traded Captain Rob Blake to their divisional rivals, the Quebec Remparts for center Marc Savard, defensive prospect Alexei Semenov and Quebec's 1st round pick in 2009. This comes on the heels of the team trading for pivot Oleg Kvasha and strengthens the team down the middle but at what price?

"Rob has had a good run with us," commented GM Stephen J. Holodinsky, but his contract was the biggest one on our books nad we have players like Ken Klee on the farm who we think have promising futures with us. Savard as well as Kvasha give us great depth up the middle and with Ronnie Francis getting up their in years and Eric Lindros missing half the season last year we needed to have that depth."

"This was a move made with our future in mind. With (Jeff) Jillson, (Mark) Popovic, and Semenov, we now have three solid blueline prospects and with Savard we've got a younger more dynamic center than either Francis or Lindros," concluded the GM.

Now that Blake has left town, the Harpoons will most likely promote Matthias Ohlund to the powerplay unit with Brian Leetch and they'll need to choose a new Captain. While there are several veterans on the team that could don the 'C', it is thought that Joe Thornton has the inside track at the job.
