Subject: Totems off to quick start Author: Bona Fide [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 06:46:02 02/06/03 Thu After an up and down pre-season some Victoria fans were wondering whether this years edition of the Totems could measure up to the success enjoyed by the team in the past three seasons. With lots of new faces on the ice and Mike Keenan replacing coaching legend Scotty Bowman behind the bench there was plenty of reason to be wary. Well, three games do not a season make but the Totems have at least eased the nerves of the local faithful somewhat with a 3-0 start, including a 6-2 thumping of the Quebec Remparts last night. Leading the way early on this season is Sergei federov, who apparently has enjoyed being returned to his natural centre position, with 6 points so far. The only regular who has played all three games that has failed to register a point this far is blueliner Teppo Numminen, who nonetheless has been steady for Victoria.
