The Ottawa Oaks began this fourth GWHL season in good mood as they believe they have a team capable of challengng for the Hoser Cup this year. The Oaks who are the 2 time defending Northeast division champions did not sit idley by over the offseason but have made a couple changes to improve the team. In the offseason the Oaks brought in the new faces of sniper Alexander Mogilny, centerman Chris Drury, Defenders Al MacInnis and Martin Skoula, goalies Curtis Joseph and Byron Dafoe as well as veteran Dave Lowry who is expected to bide his time in Hull helping the Oaks bright future stars with their game. The Oaks also had a big rookie class enter the pro game this year led by star in the makeing Dany Heatley. the class included centermen Robert Reichel and Jiri Dopita (both of whom have been playing professionaly in europe), Riku Hahl, and Pascal Dupuis. Dany Heatley is the only one that broke camp with the pro squad. also joining the Oaks this season were a couple of guys who played last season with a young Hull squad a year ago those being Patrik Stefan and Cory Stillman. With an improved lineup over last year the Oaks top brass believe anything short of Hoser Cup success as an unsuccessful season.

The new Oaks Lineup was expecting to have to rely on the top line of Jason Allison between John Madden and Alexander Mogilny for the majority of the offence but at the start of this season the Oaks have been presently surprised with the play of the second line of Chris Drury between Dany Heatley and Cory Stillman. Dany Heatley is leading the rookie class in scoring with in 4GP he has 2 goals and 5 assists for 7 points which also makes him the leading scorer on the Oaks and one of the top scorers in the league.

The Oaks season started off shaky with a loss to the defending hoser cup chapion Calgary Cougars but has since been progressavly better with a tie in the second game and two wins in the last two games.
