(HALIFAX)- Making lists and checking it twice seems to be the modus operandi around the Aquadome these days as the November/16 Entry Draft looms closer and closer. No doubt with the top three picks in the selection process and another in the number 6 spot, the Harpoons are sitting pretty but don't try telling GM Stephen J. Holodinsky that.

"We've had high picks before and some have turned out and some haven't," the boss intoned. "We thought Ville Nieminen would turn out better than he has but we ended up packaging him off in a deal after taking him 3rd overall a couple years ago. It's a real crapshoot."

When asked about which players he might be interested in Holodinsky remained coy saying "there's a lot of good talent out there this year." Be that as it may though it's almost certain that Russian winger Ilya Kovalchuk will be the first pick this time out as he is the clear cut top talent available. After that though it gets muddy as there are a number of players who could go anywhere from 1 to 16 in the first round and even into the second so deep is the talent pool.

One rumour that has reached this reporter is that Halifax might use one of their first three picks on an over-ager though again, this could not be confirmed at press time.
