Subject: Free Agency Underway - Let the Insanity Begin!

Free agency began today... or as some know it, the process of irreparably damaging your teams salary structure in futile hopes that your team can be the one and only one team to add just the right mix of free agents to win the Hoser Cup.

That said, there is no more exciting moment in the hockey season save the Cup finals themselves! But only one team can win. Today the process began to see which teams can resign their free agents, which team can steal away a star player and which teams just lose out.

The bidding war began today with several key unrestricted free agents, names like Jeremy Roenick, Scott Stevens, Theo Fleury, Peter Bondra, Pierre Turgeon and Mike Modano. The lone restricted free agent on this first day is Richard Zednik.

As for Whitehorse, things are eerily quiet on the free agent front. Today the Warriors have no free agents on the block. Whispers are swirling that Whitehorse was talking with Scott Stevens agent, but we have heard of no offer being made. Whitehorse's Steve Gandour told us earlier that no offer would be made to Stevens, though he admitted talking with his agent and with the Victoria GM.

More whispers hint that an offer was made for a free agent, but no certainty on which one. Speculation is it may have been the lone restricted free agent. With no picks before the third round for the next two drafts, picks three years away do not seem so big a loss to prevent a restricted free agent from being bid on. But again, Steve refused to respond to those questions.

Reporting for your Warriors,
Sal Trachan
