In a move to solidify their penalty killing unit, the Saskatoon Silos acquired right wing Robert Kron from the Ottawa Oaks. The Silos sent a 2007 2nd round pick to Ottawa in exchange for Kron.

While Kron is seen as more of a defensive specialist, he does have the ability to generate some offense. In 82 games for the Oaks, Robert registered 38 points (13G, 25A). His +13 rating on an Ottawa team that featured mostly minus players further points out his role as a solid, two-way contributor.

"With Claude Lapointe and Kron in our lineup, we have two of the better defensive specialists in the GWHL", beamed Silos' GM Ken McKenna. "We don't necessarily expect Robert to generate points, although he may get that chance playing on a line with Robert Lang."

With the acquisition of Kron, the remake of the Saskatoon lineup continues. Eleven players that wore the Silos' jersey last season are no longer with the club, nor are several players that were in the system last season. GM McKenna has so far been able to improve the club for the present, while also improving the young talent in the system.

"We inherited a club that had been somewhat mismanaged in the past, so the hockey department had to roll up their sleeves and work hard to improve the talent in this organization", explained McKenna. "Our work isn't done, but I feel better about the direction in which we're headed than I did when I took over in 2002".

The GM indicated that he may still be looking to make a couple of trades, but that the Saskatoon fans shouldn't expect any blockbusters at this point. "The lineup is pretty well set, with just some minor tinkering needed to complete the job", stated the GM. Rumors had been swirling that defenseman Derian Hatcher and center Alexei Zhamnov were being offered around, but it is possible that those two could start the season in the organization.
