Hi all,

We had a really tough tournament (Ruhrpokal) this last weekend, run by Wanderfalke club. We didn't win a game and by the time we met a women's team we were stuffed! We played six games in our first day and they were men's teams, including the Under21 German men's team.

We have been made to feel very welcome here and are enjoying the German food and weather- 25 degrees and plenty of sun! The rules of the game are certainly different in Germany. Obstruction is a tactic, illegal boat tackles have to be pretty special to get a call, and if you think you get a free shot or pass just because the ref calls it think again, they are in your face from the instant the whistle blows.

I totally love playing here, I even reffed a game (German style, I was on some planks tied to two boats on the other side of the river and I'd been taken there in a yellow canoe taxi, so I didn't want to make too many waves!!!).

The atmosphere is brilliant, parents and families and a beer tent, hot food and drinks for sale, everyone camping at the club!

Anyway, this week we begin our buildup for the Worlds and hopefully we will have our game set up for the competition. I saw the ICF rules directives for the Worlds on the ICF forum- go check it out from the Links page. It certainly isn't the game we were playing this weekend!!!

:-)vish
