Well we are typing away again in an internet cafe on our morning off after a hard tournament on the weekend.

We played 7 full on games of premier A grade german style polo. Which means it is hard, fast and aggressive!!!

These germans have not heard of the obstruction rule either. so if u are down the other end of the pool no where near the ball your opponent can still take u out of the game and not allow u to go and assist your team mate who has some big german all over her!! yes very different style of polo.

The tournament started off really well for us. In our first game against a mens team. We kept them to 2-1 at half time with the final score of 5-2 after being fast broken a couple of times in the second half. It was a good wake up call to the german teams and we got a lot of respect from them after that.

For our next game we came up against the biggest german men i have ever seen. 10 foot tall and bullet proof. We couldn't quite finish them off but enjoyed the challenge of trying!

The best game was a one goal loss to another german mens team (4-3) which was fast and kept us on our toes allowing us to set up a few of our moves!!!

In summary they were big and fast and did i mention fast and big!!!

Eveyone has been really friendly and we are treated a bit like celebrities i reckon.

The infrastructure and facilities for canoe polo over here has blowen us away. The depth of support is incredible. One guy was waving his club flag which indicated that his club had been established in 1924!! So polo has been around a little bit longer than in New Zealand.

We have shaken off our jetlag and got stuck into the polo scene. The tournament on the weekend was very valuable and a awesome introduction to European polo...bring it on i say.

As i mentioned we have got the morning off today before we head into a rigourous training week filled with lots of polo.

So you may not hear from me for a few days as none of the villages have internet. we have just found one in the centre of town which is 30 mins by bus to get to.

It is very beautifull over hear nothing like the industrial town we had envisaged. It is very green with a touch of smog to ensure that u know u are not in NZ!!

OK my time is up. Keep the messages coming

Libby
