Subject: Thunderbolt arc

I recently brought a new Miller Thunderbolt AC/DC and am having a very hard time just keeping an arc on the thing while using a 3/32 and 1/8 6010 electrode (5p+) in the flat position while on reverse polarity and welding on 1/4" & 1/8" thick low carbon steel. I'm used to welding on the Lincoln Idealarc 250 and I always use a short arc on it. On the Thunderbolt I can have a short arc but when I move off the puddle to start a new bead the arc goes out too many times. I can make a decent weld but the arc will go off as I move off the puddle. I've also tried many amperage settings. This is very frustrating. Also I'm getting
220 volts out of the outlet. I don't know if it is the machine or me. I don't know if I'm spoiled by the Idealarc or if this is normal for the Thunderbolt or if I've got a lemon.

Thanks, Paul
