I am a "hobby" welder and have been lurking here and learning on this site. Thanks for all the valuable knowledge and experience freely shared here!

All my experience is with stick welding but I want to move to MIG. I've found a used Lincoln SP 250 available at a great price. The catch is that the touch control panel needs to be replaced. My questions are:

1. Is the SP 250 overkill for a new MIG welder like me?
2. Is this welder a "work horse" or "dog" that should be avoided?
3. Is this a common "fault" with this welder, i.e. touch panel replacement?
4. Any estimate as to the cost of the panel replacement?
5. Anything else I should know before buying this welder?

Thnx in advance,
Emil
