i have a miller 250 mig and would like to get set up to weld AL. i'm interested in working with thin gauge metal. somewhere in the line of 12 gauge and up. i have already looked at the spool guns but not wanting to spend that kind of money for no more than i would use it. recently i talked of a friend which is a welder by trade. he told me that i could buy a OXO 10' gun and put a connector on it that would fit my miller power source. he said he has used one for a while and it works great. he mentioned something about the liner in the OXO being alot better as far as the wire not trying to bunch up. he just said to keep the lead as straight as possible when welding. that want be a problem as most of the welding projects will be around the bench. does anyone know if this really works.
