 well if i were you i would go with a lincoln arc welder(220 volts)if you have it they go for around $300.but if you only have 110v. i would go with a flux cored lincoln kmig welder they can usualy handle 1/4 in thick mild steel.i have a flux cored welder and it has worked fine for me
