Subject: Neon Deion Rule Redux

Just a scoring question: Does the Brian Dawkins touchdown count even though he's a defensive player because the play was run from punt formation? Assuming the Deion Sanders rule is still in effect, players can only score points while playing the position for which they are drafted. But we've usually made an exception for special teams (e.g., if you drafted Sanders as a DB, you wouldn't score points for a touchdown he scored as a wide receiver, but you WOULD get points for a punt return for a TD).

Are we saying the same thing for non-return special teams plays as well? That is, do we count Dawkins' TD because it happened when the Eagles were lined up to punt (even though they didn't), but if he had been lined up as an extra tight end in a normal fourth down situation and caught a TD pass, it wouldn't count?

Just for the record, I've got no problem with interpreting the rule this way. I just want to make sure it's clear for future reference. Even with his glitches, Mike can't beat me, so it's all sort of a moot point.
