Are you trying to expand your margin of victory? When you have a defensive player on the Eagles, you always have to be ready for Andy Reid's bag of tricks. Anyway, the discussion on this (which consisted of me and Jason with input from Mock) was that since it was from a special teams formation, the TD counts but the yards and catch don't. Rule 218, section 2, addendum 2, paragraph 3 states that "special teams points" and the side of the ball the player plays on count. The pros for counting the TD would be that it was from a special teams formation, the punter was on the field, and if the ball would have been fumbled by the punter or the returner and Dawkins would have taken it to the endzone, it would have counted. The only argument against the TD points would be that offensive stats were a part of the play. This is the fantasy league version of the "tuck rule". Either way, the rule will need to be refined. If this were an offensive player, I assume he would have gotten credit for everything. So, can defensive players only get credit for special teams' TDs? Another interesting scenario: If Champ Bailey would have fumbled a fake punt run, would he have lost two points because it was offensive rush yardage? I know we gave Brett back the two points because it was clearly an offensive play, which makes sense. My take on this is that Neon Deion is long gone, and this rule needs to go and all points scored by a player count during the course of the game. Obviously, it's too late for Dawkins' catch and yardage to count, but this is so rare now that the owner should be rewarded for glitches like this. All it would do is slightly raise the stock of a few cornerbacks. What does anyone else think?
