Dear Melissa and Canadian Actives and Alumnae,
As previously communicated via a letter with the last AOE National Foundation mailing, in order to establish a Foundation recognized by the Canadian government, we must have a Canadian alumnae spearhead the effort. It is a reasonable expectation that establishing a Canadian Foundation requires the full support of Canadian alumnae/citizens. As of the posting of this document, we have had no support from any alumnae to begin this endeavor.
If anyone is interested in volunteering to do the research, establish the appropriate legal structure and initiate and follow through with the governmental process to establish a Foundation recognized as a tax-deductible charity within Canada, please contact me via email at jgvondo@aol.com to discuss how to begin the process.
Having a Foundation in Canada that can accept tax-deductible donations and disperse funds to support activities that further the success of women in engineering and technical science is a cause that is worth the effort. It is certainly an achievable long-term goal with the support and volunteer work of alumnae!
Melissa, thank you for doing a little research. Hopefully it will spark the interest of a canadian alum to volunteer.
Thank you,
Michelle Vondenkamp
