* Who is eligible to run for the International Executive Board (IEB)?
Any alumna member may run for an International Executive Board position. The alumna must have served at least one year on an International Committee, as an International Committee Chairperson or as a Chapter Alumna Advisor, or be in good standing with the sorority and have nomination approval by the IEB. A candidate for IEB President must have served at least one year as an International Executive Board Officer. No member may be nominated for more than one position.

* What information is required to officially run for an IEB position?
A nomination form must be completed for the nominee and returned to the Elections Committee. The nominee must provide written consent (via signature on the nomination form) to be placed on the ballot. Completed nomination forms must be returned to the Elections Committee six months prior to the opening day of convention, which is generally early February. Contact Mary Anne Moore at iebpres@aoesorority.org for a nomination form.

* Can active chapters or active members nominate candidates for IEB positions?
Currently, the way the International Constitution reads, only alumnae can nominate other alumnae. However, if an active chapter or active member has a specific candidate in mind who meets the requirements, they can request their alumna advisor to submit the nomination on their behalf or have the candidate self-nominate herself, which is allowed.

* What are the responsibilities of the IEB and what is the time commitment they must make?
Some specific duties are listed in Article IV of the International Constitution. IEB members attend regularly scheduled conference calls during the year at approximately 4-6 week intervals. IEB members attend the International Convention and a strategic planning meeting held at another time during the year. IEB Officers must have a phone, a computer, and an email address. In addition, IEB members may need to travel to chapter or colony locations during a given year. Time commitments can vary from office to office and can be dependent on the amount of volunteers working on the committees under a specific office’s umbrella. Contact the current officer if you are interested in more details about what a specific position entails.

* How will elections be conducted?
Voting on elections will be made by secret ballot from alumnae and convention delegates. The candidate who receives a majority of the votes will be elected to that position. Write-in candidates are allowed as long as they meet the eligibility requirements for holding an elected position. If there are no nominees for a given position, the IEB will appoint a candidate to fill the position.

* What qualities and attributes are important to be an IEB Officer?
The following are some attributes that may indicate whether a candidate would be a good fit for an IEB position:
- Leadership skills
- Enthusiasm and passion for AOE
- Ability to motivate others
- Follow through on commitments
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Business (i.e. “real world”) experience
- “Big picture” thinking
- Maturity
- Previous AOE volunteer experience
