I'm not going to argue the Japanese semantics, which Ari and Marina are doing just fine, but I don't think you can really blame Subaru OR Hokuto for Seishirou's death. You said it yourself--Seishirou KNEW about Hokuto's spell, but struck the blow anyway. That makes it a suicide. He killed himself.

Which, actually, could bring up some interesting debate about 'the only person Seishirou ever loved was himself,' but I'm sure that's reading too much into it. ^^;;;
